Jordan Powell Legacy Fund
Jordan Isaac Powell (Feb 8/84-Nov 8/04)
"For those who believe, life is not ended, but merely changed"
Jordan was a 2002 graduate of Holy Cross Regional High School in Surrey, where he played football and was an active member of the music program. He had a genuine love for people and a smile for everyone he met. Music was one of Jordan's great passions and he filled his life with it. Bass recorder, clarinet, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, trumpet, bohdran, keyboards; he never met an instrument he couldn't charm! He sang and played guitar for liturgical music in his Parish, and was a founding member of "Mutiny Gone Overboard", a local Celtic band. Jordan was unfailingly cheerful in the face of his illness and was an inspiration to his friends and family. Jordan was the loving husband of Amanda-Jane, beloved son of Gordon and Lynne, and cherished big brother of Nathan, Daniel and Amanda. "We have all been blessed to know him and our lives have been made richer by his presence. He will always be in our hearts."
To create a lasting legacy in Jordan's memory, his family established the Jordan Powell Legacy Fund with the Surrey Foundation to annually support the "Jordan Powell memorial Music Scholarship" awarded to a Holy Cross graduate who has a keen interest in music and who has been part of the music program throughout his or her 5 years at Holy Cross. Recipients of this award are continuing in a tradition of music that Jordan lived and enjoyed. Family members and friends from across Canada have generously donated to build this endowment fund that currently provides two $500 scholarships each year.
